Samsung Galaxy Note10 Lite was launched on January of 2020 as a lighter version of the Premium Galaxy Note10.Priced at this moment at around 450$/477€ and ₹39,998(Amazon India) the phone gives you taste of the actual Note10 at almost half the price.
The whole idea of this Lite version is starting to be the new trend and Samsung is following it in the best way possible. The Galaxy S10 Lite was also launched on February and along with the Galaxy Note10 Lite has been the centre of attraction at their price point.
The idea is to give people the taste of a premium flagship at a more affordable price excluding some features which can be termed as luxury for a smartphone.Yes some features which you have to compromise with may have been dealt with but you do not get everything at a time.
The Samsung Galaxy Note10 Lite has many features to wow you specially the S-Pen which is a deal breaking feature. This stylus has been the USP and an exclusive feature of the Samsung Note family for the past few years and you get the full use of it in the Lite as well.
DESIGN AND BODY
The first thing you notice is the difference with the regular Note10.The Galaxy Note10 Lite has a rounded form factor with the corners being rounded in stead of the flat design of the Note10.The display is also not curved but flat. The camera module at the back is also not horizontal but rectangular more like the S20 series but with almost no bump.
The back is not glass but what Samsung calls Glastic a mixture of plastic and glass which gives the phone a premium look and the feel is also not like that of plastic backs. This is actually good for the safety of the phone as there will be no fear of glass shattering if accidentally the phone falls. The frame is made of Aluminium which further increases the durability of the phone.
The dimensions of the phone are 163.7mm x 76.1mm x 8.7mm.It weighs 199g.As you can see the phone is quite thick and heavy.
The Samsung Galaxy Note10 Lite sports a big 6.7″Super Amoled display with FHD+(1080 x 2400) resolution,an aspect ratio of 20:9 and ~394ppi.Manually you can increase brightness upto 400nits and in bright sunlight the brightness can reach a maximum of 620nits.As already mentioned earlier the display is flat.It is an Always-On display and supports HDR.Bezels are minimum and the huge screen with big aspect ratio makes video watching a beautiful experience.
I should bring to your notice that the display though good is not as good as that of the Galaxy S10 Lite.
OS,PROCESSOR AND STORAGE
Samsung’s own One UI2.0 is the user interface slapped over Android 10.one UI2 is a very capable interface and comes with lots of features some important ones being the Dark Mode,One Handed Mode and the Knox security mode.Gestures like swiping across left over display will take you back to the previously running app.
Exynos 9810 is the chipset used in the Galaxy Note10 Lite which has an octa core processor(4×2.7GHz,4×1.7GHz) and the GPU is MaliG72 MP18.It is a powerful chipset no doubt with 10nm technology but the main drawback is it is almost 2years old first being used in the Galaxy S9 in 2018.
There are two storage variants -6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage and 8GB Ram + 128GB internal storage.Internal storage is UFS2.1.There is a micro SD card slot which shares its position with one of the dual sim supported and has an expandable storage upto 1TB.
Samsung Galaxy Note10 Lite has atriple camera module on the back with a 12MP f/1.7 wide sensor,a 12MP f/2.4 telephoto lens and a 12MP f/2.2 ultra wide lens.OIS is supported in all the lenses and the telephoto lens has 2X optical zoom.Aperture size is lesser than that present in the regualar Note10.
HDR,Panorama,LED flash,Live Focus are all supported.Portrait mode pictures can be shot o the main and the telephoto lens.Night mode is also very capable of enhancing the low light images.
4K videos can be shot at 30/60fps on all lenses.1080p videos can also be captued at 30/60 ans 240fps.All support gyro EIS and a Super Steady mode is available on the ultra wide sensor for 1080p videos.
A single punch hole selfie shooter of 32MP f/2.2 is housed on the display which has HDR support. It can shoot videos of 4K or 1080p at 30fps.With help of the quad pixel binning technology the front camera can capture images of 8MP.
Now it is time to address the elephant in the room which is the S-Pen an exclusive feature of Note series phones. The S-Pen on the Samsung Galaxy Note10 Lite has everything to offer as that of the Note10 barring some Air Gestures which to be frank can be easily compromised with.
The S-Pen is a pressure sensitive, bluetooth integrated stylus to be precise.Jotting down quick notes on the current screen even if it is locked is the most common use but that also will make you feel like you are writing on paper with a pen such is the pressure sensitiveness. It also has some unique features such as the following-
Smart select is the most unique feature I love.you can copy any portion of the screen with the S-Pen and use it to your liking. Then there is the feature where you can highlight any part of a text you are reading and then drag it to open in a new tab.Text Export is an exclusive feature of the Samsung Notes app where you can instantly convert your handwriting into text. You can draw in 3D with the S-Pen.It is also useful in certain games where your fingers may seem a little thick to click on the required point.
The Bluetooth integration helps the S-Pen to be used as a remote control device for your phone. You can actually capture a portrait selfie at 10m distance from your phone with the click of your S-Pen only.
An under display optical fingerprint sensor is present.Face unlock is also supported alongside the regular Pin,Password or Pattern unlock features.
A single bottom firing loudspeaker is present.Whatever excuse the company gives stereo speakers or even dual speakers should have been provided.Thankfully a 3.5mm audio jack is present.Bluetooth,Wi-Fi,NFC and USB Type C are all supported.
BATTERY AND COLOURS
A big 4500mAH battery powers the Samsung Galaxy Note10 Lite which supports 25W fast charging and can charge the phone from 0 to 50% in half an hour.In spite of the big battery the processor drains battery faster. The Galaxy A71 has the same battery but a Snapdragon730 SoC and its performance is better. This doesn’t mean that you cannot use the Galaxy Note10 Lite with moderate use for a single day with one full charge.Wireless charging is not supported.
Three colour variants are available-Aura Glow,Aura Black and Aura Red.
The things you are missing from the regular Galaxy Note10 are a slightly better display, processor, higher RAM and storage, better camera features,IP rating for water and dust resistance and wireless charging support. But all these come at a price much higher than the Samsung Galaxy Note10 Lite.
The S-Pen is a feature you can’t unnotice and Samsung has not compromised on that aspect. For those who long for a Note device but couldn’t afford it can give this phone a try and I can assure you they will not be unhappy.
Honestly if you are not a guy who likes styluses then you should look into the Galaxy S10 Lite at almost same price or Galaxy A71 at a lower price.Still S-Pen is an experience you should taste at least once.Anyways what are your thoughts on the Galaxy Note10 Lite? Please let me know in comments.
