OnePlus 9 Pro 5G is the latest flagship from the company and it promises a lot.If you have followed the latest social media uploads from OnePlus you will have noticed that the main highlights of the messages were that we were not happy with the cameras and so they have rectified that.
It’s clear that the previous year’s flagship, the OnePlus8 Pro did not have the perfect camera. So this year the company promises to give more and thus they have partnered with the Swedish camera giants Hasselblad.Well most of you already know this but I should inform you that this partnership is limited to colour accuracy and images i.e.Hasselblad has no role in the camera hardware.
The OnePlus 9 Pro 5G offers a lot more than only the cameras but will that be enough to blow the market that is to be seen. Without much adieu let’s dive into the details.
Looks can kill and the OnePlus 9 Pro has such looks. It simply has a premium finish. It comes in 3 colours of which the Morning Mist is the new one. The back looks like silver which fades into black on the edges and has a translucent finish. The other two colours, the Pine Green and the Stellar Black have matte finish.
The camera module comes with the Hasselblad logo and the alert slider is back again.(It was absent in the OnePlusNord). The display is curved slightly at the edges which obviously makes the phone more attractive but not so liked by many specially gamers as curved edges bring accidental touches.
Talking of display the OnePlus 9 Pro boasts of a 6.7″ Fluid Amoled 2.0 display which has an advertised peak brightness of 1300nits.It supports 1400×3216 resolution, has and aspect ratio of 20:9 and pixel density of ~525ppi.The display also boasts of smart 120Hz refresh rate meaning that the maximum refresh rate is 120Hz and the phone will automatically switch to lower refresh rate when required.Always on display is also supported. To be very honest this is one of the best displays in the world perhaps only second to Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
The front and back are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and the frame is aluminium. The OnePlus 9 Pro is IP68 certified water and dust resistant. It is only 8.7mm thick and weighs 197g.
Android 11 is the OS which is topped over by Oxygen OS 11 which is the best. Yes I say it is best that is better than Samsung OneUI solely because of Oxygen OS ‘s resemblance with stock Android.
Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 the latest and the best chipset of Android phones at this moment. So performance wise there’s nothing to complain and for gamers the dedicated gaming mode is a booster.
RAM is of 8GB and 12GB with 128GB and 256GB UFS3.1 storage respectively. For your information the Morning Mist colour variant comes in 12/256GB .
The highlighting feature of the OnePlus 9 Pro are the cameras. They have partnered with Hasselblad which ensures perfect colour calibration and natural colours. The rear has a quad camera module with primary 48MP f/1.8 wide sensor with PDAF,OIS and Laser auto focus,a 50MP f/2.2 ultrawide sensor,a 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens with 3.3x optical zoom and a 2MP monochrome lens. The first two are Hasselblad enhanced.
The front has a punch hole 16MP f/2.4 wide sensor.
Nightscape mode are supported for both the rear and front cameras.
With the Hasselblad logo the OnePlus 9 Pro promises a lot but is the camera the best out there. The following video from MrWho’s The Boss will give you a good insight.
A 4500mAH battery powers the phone with a whopping 65W fast charging prowess. Oh yes the charger is provided!! 50W wireless charging is also supported but with compatible chargers only.
The OnePlus 9 Pro is a very good and recommendable smartphone. It is being compared with the Galaxy S21 Ultra and that itself is a huge attribute. But the base price of ₹64999 and the top price of ₹69999 may seem quite less than that of the S21 Ultra but this is not in accordance with the fame of OnePlus. The high price indicates that OnePlus has lost its roots which was flagship level performance at an affordable price.
Again the OnePlus 9 Pro packs a lot of attractive features and a big Hasselblad promise but the performance will be seen in due course of time. What are your thoughts? Please let me know in comments.
