Another week and another Motorola phone has surfaced. This time it’s called the Moto G9 Power.Similar to Moto G8 Power Lite this phone is also very comfortably priced.Yes this is a low budget phone but it is huge in terms of size and battery.
Very recently Motorola launched the lowest priced 5G phone in India, the Moto G 5G and now the Moto G9 Power will be available for sale from 15th December,2020 via Flipkart at RS.11999 INR.
The price is definitely attractive but has this device got the specs to be easily recommendable Let’s have a look.
DESIGN AND DISPLAY
To be very honest the Moto G9 Power is almost identical to all the recently released Motorola phones. It has a plastic back and frame. The chin has a quite big bezel. On the back is a camera module which holds a triple camera set-up and a LED flash.Just below is the Motorola dimple which also houses the physical fingerprint scanner.
Again there is a dedicated Google Assistant button,a 3.5mm audio jack port and a single bottom mounted speaker. The SIM tray houses a dual hybrid slot for two nano 4G Sims or a 4G sim and an external memory card. The phone is water repellent meaning it will withstand the sudden splashes but don’t even think of taking it into the pool.
The Moto G9 Power is bulky to be frank. It weighs 221g and is 9.7mm thick.
The first huge thing about this phone is the 6.8″ LCD display with 720×1640 resolution.Video watching may be excellent but such a huge display which accounts for the massive size of the phone is very uncomfortable for one handed use.The resolution is also not up to the mark.
Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor which runs on 11 nm technology. The maximum clock speed is 2.0GHz.It is not lightning fast but quite adequate for the price. The GPU is Adreno 610.
4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage is theonly variant. One can expand storage via micro SD card upto 512GB which will take up one of the hybrid SIM slots.
As usual the Moto G9 Power runs on pure Android 10.No bloatware is present in the phone except for one Moto app through which you can set the usual Moto gestures like shake to open flash.
On the back is a triple camera set-up with a primary 64MP f/1.8 sensor. The other two cameras are two 2MP sensors for macro and depth.1080p videos @30/60fps can be captured.Camera settings has a new look and there is room for more optimization.Yje main focus of the new menu is on onehanded use which is very essential seeing the size of the phone.
The front houses a 16MP f/2.2selfie snapper which also can shoot 1080p [email protected]
BATTERY AND COLOURS
A huge 6000mAH battery powers the Moto G9 Power which also has 20W fast charging prowess.Almost 60hours of usage is boasted of from one full charge.
Metallic Sage and Electric Violet are the colour variants.
To put it in short the Moto G9 Power is not a very recommendable phone at least for me.The enormous 6000mAH battery is good and so is the display size. But the display resolution is poor at this age.Bezels are strikingly present.Besides the 64MP primary sensor the two 2MP sensors are usually of very poor quality.Infact in my opinion instead of the two there could have been a single ultrawide sensor which is almost a must now. Then comes the 4GB RAM which also could have been at least 6GB.The 64GB storage is also not adequate.Yes you can expand but that will take up a SIM slot. Moreover the phone is huge, thick and bulky making onehanded use a problem.
