Micromax has returned with the Micromax In Note 1 and as usual it is a budget friendly device. The phone is on sale via Flipkart from 24/11/2020. At one time Micromax was the big fish in the lower price segment.Well they have started their second innings but this time there will be tough competition from the well established MI or Realme phones.
One marketing strategy they have come up with which will definitely affect a lot of customers is the presence of the word In which stands for India. The ongoing support for made in India products may boost the sales I feel.
Whatever marketing strategy you come up with the phone should be good and offer same or more than competitors. So let’s see what the Micromax In Note 1 has inside it.
DESIGN AND DISPLAY
The first thing you notice is the size of the phone. The Micromax In Note 1 is a large brick with a 6.67″ IPS display. The body is of plastic with oleophobic coating. The back is glossy and reflcts light differently at different angles making it attractive. But the back is also a fingerprint magnet.
The fingerprint sensor is on the rear.Micromax In Note 1 boasts of a dedicated Google Assistant button. There is a dedicated micro SD card slot also and the fan favourite 3.5mm audio jack retains its place.
The dimensions of the phone are 165.24×76.95×8.99mm and it weighs 196g.The display is of 1080×2400 resolution with 20:9 aspect ratio and ~395ppi.

PERFORMANCE
Micromax In Note 1 comes with Android 10 out of the box.No other software skin is specified. The processor is the trusted one in this segment which is Mediatek Helio G85.You surely know by now that this SoC is a game centric one and is quite a capable chipset for the price.
4GB RAM along with 64GB and 128GB internal storage variants is available. The former is priced at Rs 10999 INR and the latter costs Rs 12999 INR.You can also expand storage upto 256GB via micro SD card.
CAMERAS
In this era this is the most important segment and Micromax In Note 1 doesn’t disappoint at least in the number of cameras provided. The rear has a quad camera module with a primary 48MP f/1.8 wide sensor,a 5MP f/2.2 ultrawide sensor with 115° field of view,a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro sensor.Videos of 1080p can be [email protected]
On the front is a punch hole 16MP selfie shooter.
Quality of images may be a tad questionable but it is at par with most of its competitors.Yet again I have to mention that I personally despise the presence of those two 2MP cameras which are of poor quality and is provided simply to increase the count. To all companies please get rid of these and focus more on a better primary camera.
BATTERY AND COLOURS
Low budget smartphones inevitably demands bigger batteries and the Micromax In Note 1 complies with a 5000mAH battery and 18W fast charging.Reverse charging is supported too.
Green and White are the colour options available.

CONCLUSION
Micromax has kept it simple. They have not gone for anything crazy and has come up with a phone that has everything you expect from the price point. The edge to edge display, quad camera set-up and the 5000mAH battery are the plus points. To be honest I have found no such negative in the phone except perhaps the big display which doesn’t allow you to swipe down the notification panel with single handed use.
Image processing will need more time to review and for now Ican say that the Micromax In Note 1 is a good value phone. But and there’s always a but,the Realme Narzo series which is similarly priced is going to be a very recommendable competitor.
Anyways if old memories are your go to and huge displays are your must haves then you can go for the Micromax In Note 1.Let me know of your thoughts on the phone via comments.
