LG V60 THINQ is the new flagship from LG which itself is a good phone but alongwith LG’s dual screen accessory which can be bought separately gives it a cutting edge look. But as I mentioned the accessory has to be bought separately and hence you can judge the phone on the single screen option only.
LG never has raised quite a stir in the smartphone market for sure but of late it has been making really good phones featuring specifications that are genuinely needed by a customer. This to me is really a nice step in smartphone manufacturing and radically different way of seeing things as most other companies just pack their phones with everything available especially in their flagship models.
LG V60 THINQ is no different but has some cons as well along with the pros. Here we will have a look at both and also the extras that the dual screen accessory brings.

DESIGN AND BODY
Design and look wise LG has got back to old days and brought the champhoured edges back. Moreover the glossy back with the modifications will get lesser fingerprint smudges now. There is a camera bump at the back but it’s very subdued.Front has a big waterdrop notch selfie shooter which to me is a con.A punch hole camera would have changed the aesthetics for better.A dedicated Google Assistant button is on the left side of the phone and the phone has a 3.5mm port for headphones.
The back and front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and the frame is made of Aluminium.LG V60 THINQ is IP68 certified water and dust resistant.

The dimensions of the phone are 169.3mm×77.6mm×8.9mm.The phone weighs 213g.
DISPLAY
The LG V60 THINQ sports a huge 6.8″ Amoled display(P-Oled) with a cinematic 20.5:9 aspect ratio. The resolution is 1080×2400 and it has~395 ppi.The display supports HDR10+ and is an Always on display.Refresh Rate is 60Hz that is the regulatory one.If you are in for the dual screen then obviously you get two same sized 6.8″ displays.
The big display ensures excellent video watching experience and with the dual screen you can rest the phone like a tv and watch.P-Oled or Amoled whatever you call it has good colour gamut and as is the property of Amoled displays this one also features true colours with a deep black.Overall the display is beautiful. One can be a little complacent about the resolution being only 1080p but it also has the advantage of giving more Battery life.
OS, PROCESSOR AND STORAGE
Android 10 is featured and LG does not boast of any personal UI.There are some customery LG shortcuts enabled though.
The latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 is the chipset under the hood.So in terms of performance there can be no complaints. The Snapdragon 865 as you know runs on 7nm+ technology and has an octa core processor (1×2.84GHz,3×2.42GHz and 4×1.8GHz).The GPU is Adreno 650.
The LG V60 THINQ comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB on board storage. The internal storage is UFS 2.1 powered. You can also expand the storage with a micro SD card which shares a slot with the dual sim tray.
CAMERA
REAR CAMERA
Unlike other phones both flagship devices and mid range ones the LG V60 THINQ doesn’t house a triple or quad camera set-up.In stead it has a dual camera-a 64MP primary wide sensor with f/1.8 featuring OIS and a 13MP ultra wide sensor with f/1.9.The phone has a TOF 3D(time of flight) sensor with f/1.4 in place of a 3rd camera.
The big sensor sized primary camera captures excellent photos and powered by AI the images are of the highest class.Really they can be compared with the best in the market.OIS(optical image stabilization) and the 2x optical zoom within the primary sensor makes up for the absence of a telephoto lens.
8K videos can be [email protected] but this to me is a con of the device rather than a pro.Really without proper aperture just based on software integration 8K videos cannot be of good quality and the same happens here.LG generally as I said before doesn’t try to incorporate features that are not so essential but in this case 8K has been highlighted though it is not up to the mark.
Well 4K and 1080p videos can also be [email protected]/60fps.OIS also helps in capturing stunning videos.Gyro EIS or electronic image stabilization is also present.VoiceBokeh effect is there which minimises surrounding sound and focusses on the subject.AI powered editing option in the phone is also a feature to behold.
FRONT CAMERA
The LG V60 THINQ features a waterdrop notch 10MP f/1.9 selfie camera which supports HDR and can capture 4K videos at 30fps.It could have given a camera bigger on megapixel count but somethings have to be compromised for pricing I suppose.
OTHER FEATURES
Audio quality in the LG V60 THINQ is perhaps the best in the industry. The phone features stereo speakers and also a 3.5mm jack for wired headphones a feature almost extinct in high end smartphones nowadays.
There is an under display fingerprint sensor which is fast but it’s location seemed to be a little lower than other phones.
Bluetooth ,Wi-Fi and USB TYPE C is supported.NFC is also enabled so no problem in tap and pay.
In addition there is the dedicated Google Assistant button as I have already mentioned which also is quite a important feature of you use the Assistant often. Moreover in the few smartphones available which sports a dedicated Google Assistant button the button cannot be customised. The LG on the other hand gives you the option of changing some settings for the Google Assistant key.
DUAL SCREEN
A not so new feature of LG handsets. The Dual Screen accessory has to be bought separately and looks like a book cover case.On opening the case the additional screen is on one side and the other will hold the main phone. The case has a magnetic USB port also so that you can charge the phone while inside.
As soon as the main phone is placed in the case the dual screen is ready to be used. There is a setting menu by which you can decide which apps you wish to run on the second screen. You also have the option of running a same app on both the screens.Well as the screens are separated the image will also be separated in the hinge and here lies the difference with foldable phones like the Moto Razr.
The usual features like opening two apps on the two screens or using it like a tv are possible. They can be used both in landscape and portrait ways. The main feature which will attract a lot of gamers is the game mode.Along with the patent features of any Game mode there is a special Game Pad by which you can use the second screen as a controller for your games. It means that the second screen will act as the Game Pad and believe me gamers this will be a lot of help for you.

BATTERY AND COLOURS
LG V60 THINQ houses a big 5000mAH battery which supports fast charging that LG calls Quick Charge 4.0+.The battery size backed by the 1080p display resolution is enough to give you a days use with extensive use.
Two colour variants are available- Classy Blue and Classy White.

CONCLUSION
Priced at around 700€ LG V60 THINQ is a good value for money I feel.It gives you a lot of the essentials of a top end smartphone compromising on few luxury features.Yes there are some cons like the 8K video being not upto the mark.Still at the budget I can assure you you will not be in loss if you buy it.
The dual screen option is also available with other LG phones like the newly launched LG Velvet. But being a separate entity you can opt to not buy it.
On a whole the LG V60 THINQ is a good flagship device in my opinion. What are your thoughts? Leave a comment and also mention whether you like it with the Dual Screen option or without it.
