Along the past 2 to 3 years Huawei has grown in stature,in popularity and in quality of smartphones they are bringing to the market.Such has been their phones and technological improvements within that Huawei P40 Pro+ flagships come into direct comparison with Samsung and Apple, the two big fishes in the market.I will not be mistaken if I say that in some aspects Huawei even betters them.Going with the modern trend of launching 2-3 flagships at the same time Huawei has launched the P40,P40 Pro and P40 Pro+.I will talk about the Huawei Pro and Huawei Pro+ together for the simple reason that they are almost similar. For the matter of fact they differ in 3 aspects:Design,Camera and Battery.I will point them out as you read along.
The Huawei P40 Pro has a glass front and back with an aluminium frame with lovely matte finish on its back. The Huawei Pro+has a glass front and nanotech ceramic frame and back. This new tech ceramic makes it more durable and the back looks like a mirror especially the Black Ceramic coloured Huawei P40 Pro+.The design also has another unique feature. The 4 edges are protruded. The dual front camera module on the top left corner looks like an elongated punch hole and I feel it could have been pushed a little more towards the edge.Huawei P40 Pro weighs 209g and the Huawei Pro+ weighs 226g.Both of them are IP68 certified water and dust resistant.
Both the Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei Pro+ have a 6.58″display with a unique resolution of 2640×1200 with 91.6% screen to body ratio and 441 ppi.The display is OLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colours and comes with a screen refresh rate of 90Hz.
OS,PROCESSOR & CHIPSET
The Huawei Pro and Huawei Pro+ runs on Android 10.Both have an octa core processor and runs on HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G chipset.
The two devices have 8GB RAM and come in 256and 512 GB of internal storage variants. The Pro comes in a 8GB/128GB variant also.
Cameras are becoming the differentiating factors between flagship devices of any company.Huawei is no exception. The Huawei 30Pro had brought the 1/1.7 focal length sensor which was a first amongst its peers. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra topped it with a 1/1.33 f sensor. The Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei Pro+have again overpowered it with their 1/1.28 f sensor. Both the devices have a big camera module. The Pro has a quad camera module with 50MP wide ,40MP ultrawide,12MP telephoto and a TOF 3D depth sensor with 5X zoom.
The Huawei Pro+ has a penta camera setup with 50MP wide,40MP ultrawide ,8MP and8MP telephoto and TOF 3D depth sensor with3X and an unimaginable 10X optical zoom. You may point out that the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has 100X zoom but that is not optical zoom.Almost all high end smartphone cameras have 5X optical zoom and with the help of their big sensors and software they can crop into objects far off and shoot their images. With a 10X optical zoom the same object comes nearer and you have to crop less to capture their image thus creating a photo with more details. This makes the photos shot on Huawei P40 Pro+ one of the best in world of smartphone photos. Moreover while shooting videos of distant moving objects more the optical zoom clearer the videos.
If you have noticed I have mentioned in the heading that the Huawei Pro and Huawei Pro+ are master in AI.The statement will be clear when you are shooting photos with both the devices. They almost automatically focus on any object or face that comes in their front. The big sensors blur the background of any focussed object without portrait mode on.Suppose you are taking someone’s photo and a third person tries to photobomb by suddenly appearing behind the focussed person their image will be blurry thanks to the AI of Huawei.Another very noticeable effect of the AI will be when one takes low light images or night mode images. To be frank the low light images on both the devices are phenomenal. After clicking on an object in pitch dark you can clearly see the effect of AI when the image stabilises.Believe me you will find details that your naked eye mightn’t see.
4K videos can be shot at 30/60 fps and HD(1080) at 30/60fps.Another unique feature that continues from the P30PRO is the super slow motion videos of 720p at an astonishing 7680fps and 1080p at 960fps.
It is a dual camera module on both P40 Pro and Pro+ with 32MP primary and an IR TOF 3D depth and biometric sensor. The images are very detailed and the camera can shoot 4K videos at 30/60fps.
Both have the same under display optical fingerprint sensor and infra red face detection along with the other complimentary sensors. The fingerprint sensor is bigger and faster than its predecessors which ensures that one cannot miss the exact spot while touching with their fingers thus enabling fast unlock. The face detection owing to the big front camera sensor is very reactive and recognises your face in very low lights as well.
Both the devices are powered by non removable 4200mAH batteries with 40W fast charging. But I had mentioned earlier that they differ in batteries and the difference is that the PRO+ supports 40W fast wireless charging(with Huawei wireless charger) while the PRO supports 27W wireless charging.
The Huawei P40 Pro+ comes in 2 colour variants :the Black Ceramic and the White Ceramic.
The Pro comes in many colours;Silver Frost,Blush Gold,Deep Sea Blue,Ice White and Black.
Another difference though obvious is the price tag.The Huawei P40 Pro+ ( https://consumer.huawei.com/en/phones/p40-pro-plus/ )will cost Rs.1,17,490(estimated) and the Huawei Pro Rs.82,990(estimated).For those who can afford and those who love high performance high end smartphones buying these Huawei flagships will be a very worthy deal.
